Re: How to get WiFi working on my icaros?
Hi xboxown, congratulations on getting things to work  You know what would be a big help to others ? if you would be able to share what it is exactly that went wrong the first time you tried. Do you have any idea what you did differently this time to get things to work ? Knowing this (and sharing with others) help others facing the same problem. And please don't feel embarrassed in case it was just something you forgot or perhaps due too impatience. It's a learning process for most of us ;)

Re: How to install icaros 2.0 into my laptop from USB?
Hi xboxown, You have to pardon my icaros 2.0 ignorance as it is so fresh that i still haven't figured out where everything is located :D In the old 1.5 2 icaors desktop manual there is a special chapter about installing icaros to a USB pen-drive. You have two options: Either install icaros as 'real' os (can be a full icaros install) and boot your pendrive on the machine you want to install icaros to. then you can run the installer. This will give you a bare minimum AROS installation on the machine (depending on your pendrive installation), but you can add files from the iso (manually and at any time). The second option is to create a special install usb pendrive (also described in icaros desktop 1.5.2 manual). This installs a bare minimal icaros to the pendrive, but in opposite to the earlier mentioned method will contains all installation files (archives). You boot that pendrive on the machine on which you want to install aros and run the installation as well. Because it contains all the installation files, you do not have to manually add files, and if everything goes alright will install icaros completely to your machine. In addition to that (which i initially forgot to write) is that you need to find a wy to install to the pendrive to begin with. Amigamia already pointed out a relevant thread. In short, boot from your dvd/cd, insert pendrive and install to the pendrive, or as i usual do i install icaros firstly into a virtual machine and install to a pendrive from there. Reason to do the latter is because i can use a much more powerful machine to do that and also gives me an opportunity to check out aros/icaros in a nice protected environment. Strictly technically speaking you could also reach the same goal by using the qemu virtualization that is accompanied with the icaros dvd archive (.exe which is actually a .7z file which can be extracted and contains qemu as well). But i hardly use qemu myself. Th process is described either in the icaros desktop manual, on icarosdesktop.org blog or aros-exec.org forums (sorry, i don't recall where exactly). (please do note amigamia's thread and wiping your pendrive in case of troubles. few people experience this issue). In the hope its helpfull,
amigamia

Re: How to get WiFi working on my icaros?
I purchased that laptop that is 100% compatible with icaros including wifi. My question is I am using telus and it is using security wpa2 with encryption aes and I don't know how to connect my icaros to wifi support? Thanks in advance. If there is a step by step guide to help me do this it would be sweet!

Yes I am beyond serious! I want to fill up the HD with every single icaros game made for it or ported for it in existence. When new ones come up I will update more into the folder. So, yes I am serious. However, my concern since icaros is an going growing OS what would happen if say I have put 5 GB worth of games and then icaros 2.1 shows up, or icaros 2.4 shows up and so on, would that mean I have to redownload all these games again because I have to keep wiping HD? Can the new versions just be updated on the OS itself without affecting files and documents?

Re: Website or blog that holds lots of icaros games?
Most of the Aros (x86) games are at the Aros-Archive. They are separated into categories so you can choose the kind of games you like. It's updated about once a week. Many games are also at the web sites of the AROS porters Yannick, Bszili and SerkUK. Check out the ArosWorld web-links page for more info. I don't think there are any game reviews, but you can get info about some AROS games by going to the ArosWorld News Categories and look through the Games section. Good luck !

Re: Website or blog that holds lots of icaros games?
I am wondering is there a website or a blog that updates daily or almost daily that have hundreds of icaros games, reviews of games links to download games for icaros? I am going to buy that tiny laptop in a week or so and I want to install icaros 2.0 in it and I want to fill it up with so much games I can have fun with it in a bus or in car or anywhere I go. It will be like a mini portable console system :D :D :D ALSO I want to fill that laptop with lots of movies too!! YES! Also side, side, side note is there sticker I can buy that have icaros logo and icaros logo to put in the keyboard keys, etc?

I'm unsure about the use/support for graphic tablets. I know some of them work, but do not know to what degree. It could perhaps be worth checking out trident (usb preferences) to see if you can map some of the tablet controls. But since i do not have any hw to check myself it could be that you are unable to.
but I was wondering why Lua was Disabled? Is there anyway to enable it or would that require another build?
I have no idea. I suspect it requires a new build, but it could be just as well that something is not detecting lua properly. The 'system' would then recognize it automatically. AROS itself gives no special meaning to filename extensions. Better check with someone else on this matter to make sure or dive into aros-exec.org posts
Another thing, when I am using setpencolor to change some screen colors it seems to reverse the first 2 and last 2 characters in hexadecimal for the displayed color ie: to get FFFFE8 (a light sandy colour) one has to enter E8FFFF?
Correct. The setpencolor utility wants its colors in BBGGRR format (where every character is a hexadecimal nibble. B stands for blue component, R for red and G for green). It's old style amiga legacy (and hapilly annoys pc users) ;)
also setpencolor says you can use R,G,B instead but I can't seem to get it to recognize R,G,B, for example c:setpencolor SCREEN="Workbench" PEN=5 COLOR=255,225,232 >NIL: or c:setpencolor SCREEN="Workbench" PEN=5 COLOR="255,225,232" >NIL: or c:setpencolor SCREEN="Workbench" PEN=5 COLOR=(255,225,232) >NIL: doesn't work.
Correct that it didn't work fro you. It's: SetPenColor R=80 G=100 B=100 or: SetPenColor R 80 G 100 B 100 But it has a caveat. It is not the actual R,G or B value but expressed in percentage. So a value 100 would mean 100%, corresponding with a value of $FF (or #255). This is because the function used to set the color this way, uses a 32 bit intensityvalue per color component (making a color value 96 bits wide, which is a bit overcomplicated to implement it, like you seem to expect now).
One more thing, what fonts can I install so that iI can use them in programs like Annotate & Editor, since TTF fonts don't seem to show up in their requesters?
afaik you cannot. Editors like Annotate (that one i know best) expect non proportional fonts. TTF fonts are proportional (with few exceptions). If you really like to experiment with other fonts then i would suggest getting some (bitmapped fonts) from aminet
Oh, and I still only get sound after a soft reboot.
Try removing or setting the query line in prefs (manually). More details on this can be found on aros-exec.org (as ncafferkey is the specialist concerning this kind of matters)

Hi again, Found I can move open windows with Graphire Tablet by pressing left Aros & left alt keys at same time and moving the pen above but not touching the surface, then releasing them. Installed the GrafX2 build from Aros Aspire (thanks cavemann) and it is indeed a more recent "Dragons Layers" edition which has layers and animation and seems to solve my endless backups problem, Program version:2.4.2035 Build options: TTF fonts Lua version: Disabled but I was wondering why Lua was Disabled? @Cardboard_Sphinx:
I am using version 2.3.1781 and I seem to have understood what I did wrong in saving files...
It is a bit of a hassle, i agree. As told before it does not make backups for me. Only thing i am able to tell right now is that there is an option in the settings that _looks_ like it is for automatic backups, but ain't. You need to dig a little deeper in the settings to turn that off (which i believe is off by default, but i am not sure).
What I meant about it not being the latest version is that I have the one for mac which has animation.
Newer version almost always brings new features :-)
I just thought someone would have compiled a newer version for Aros so it was up to date with other platforms.
I have found it recognizes my old usb wacom Graphire Tablet which works (probably without pressure) with one oddity...
That's very cool. Please try Cavemanns advise, although i have owned a tablet i currently don't anymore. afaik the internal handling of (pressure) tablets are not supported atm.
One other program that I'm having trouble with is LodePaint which runs too slow to be usable am I doing something wrong here also or is it just my old PC?
As Cavemann wrote: lodepaint requires a suported videocard or a _very_ fast machine. Maybe you can look/search at the aros-exec forums to see if someone else reported similar issue(s) (most prefarably with the same hardware). Sometimes it helps to put the queury parameter in the settings. But that is a longshot.
Thanks for your help.
No problem at all. Hopefully my answers are usefull, if not then just say so or verify with others ;) @Cavemann: Thanks for that intell, i didn't know that. I useually use AspireOS for some quick c-code related stuff and (modified) Icaros for the rest of my things.

Re: Icaros 1.5.2 - GrafX2
Afaik, the only way to get GrafX 2.4 for Aros is from AspireOs. Icaros does not have the latest version. Lodepaint needs hardware acceleration to work well in Aros, and that probably means a supported NVidia card will do the trick. Of course, a beefy cpu wouldn't hurt. Also, have you tried to tap-drag to move windows like when using a laptop pad. Hope it works.

Hello, Magorium. I am using version 2.3.1781 and I seem to have understood what I did wrong in saving files... but it sill make backups which I can't figure out how to stop it from doing. What I meant about it not being the latest version is that I have the one for mac which has animation. I just thought someone would have compiled a newer version for Aros so it was up to date with other platforms. Is this difficult to do? Since the download for VAMP (good for animations which could be created in GrafX2) is not the latest version either. Otherwise Icaros seems quite refreshing. Quirky but refreshing. I have found it recognizes my old usb wacom Graphire Tablet which works (probably without pressure) with one oddity... I can't move open widows about, like the shell. I can use the scroll bars and gadgets on them I just can;t move them about. Any Ideas? One other program that I'm having trouble with is LodePaint which runs too slow to be usable am I doing something wrong here also or is it just my old PC? And I only get sound after a soft reboot, why is that? Thanks for your help.

Re: Icaros 1.5.2 - GrafX2
hi Cardboard_Sphinx, First of all a very welcome :) Sorry to hear that grafx gives you so much grieve. I could not reproduce your backup-issue so quickly. Also grafx2 seems to save in the correct path for me. And i also can click the save button to do so. Which exact version of grafx2 does that to you ? I used version 2.3.1781 and that seems to work ok (at least for me). When you say you downloaded the latest recommended version from the grafx2 website, can you exactly tell which version that is (a link would be appreciated). Because the latest recommended version is the version number i mentioned (and i've used). I am not sure if you are doing something wrong or not. If i have to take a wild guess then perhaps you downloaded grafx2 for the wrong architecture/OS (or perhaps mistakenly did download a non recommended version) ? The AROS download page clearly states (for me that is, just to be sure :D) that 2.3.1781 is the latest stable (recommended) version, so i am a bit surprised that you mentioned a newer version being available for AROS.
