There is a USB boot issue. I had to install Aros to the harddisk, from on another machine. Both CF-18 and 29 boot from USB, with 2018 Aros. USB boot work around = copy/replace /Devs/USBHardware/pciusb.device, from Icaros Desktop to Aros-20211128-RC1.

Re: Recommended hardware
@amigamia, @Jeff1138 Thanks for replying and no worries - there is no rush. Once you tested the hardware, then we can decided whether to add it to recommended or not About 'noacpi' - AROS kernel has been updated in recent years by Kalamatee to support more recent hardware. This sometimes makes older hardware fail. If I have the hardware, I will debug and resolve that at some point. @Amiwell79 Thanks, I updated my notes.

@deadwood
4) @amigamia, @Jeff1138 - my list shows that you both have Dell Wyse 7010. Have you been able to test the latest versions (D07, RC1) on this machine?
Hi deadwood, I have had very little time to play these past few weeks. I should have some time this coming week end. I did try it a while ago and I could not get it to boot at all but I wasn't using the 'noacpi' setting in the grub entry. Looks like even on theLatitude D520 I need to use this option now. Wasn't the case with older versions of AROS. Just letting you know.

Re: Recommended hardware
An update from me: 1) Based on feedback on the forums, I added Dell Latitude D520 do list of supported hardware. Right now one active user has this hardware 2) I purchased and tested on the the boards mentioned earlier: Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H. It meets the criteria of hardware availability and support and has been added as recommended hardware. 3) There is one more motherboard being considered right now, ASUS P8Z68-V LX. It is already purchased and tested by one user and I'm waiting for my board to arrive as well. 4) @amigamia, @Jeff1138 - my list shows that you both have Dell Wyse 7010. Have you been able to test the latest versions (D07, RC1) on this machine? You can see the full list here: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_Complete_System_HCL#Recommended_hardware

Re: Recommended hardware
FYI, recommended hardware section is now live on AROS HCL: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_Complete_System_HCL#Recommended_hardware I also tested Gigabyte GA-MA770 UD3. It's a good board but simply too old and not available enough to be placed as recommended. Since I have it and I will use it for testing, I placed it in legacy hardware section with EOL within 3 years.
@Jeff1138 - Hi, Query and QueryD were tried and the AMD controller ID was added, did not work sadly. It works in some cases.
Worth a shot.
Codecs have to be written for any new ones like the ALC3232 and ALC 3234 before they will work
I had just happened on it, while digging into the Via-Ac97/Ac97 folders. From working on other projects, I get to thinking audio drivers shouldn't be that hard. I am quickly reminded it is a different story, when you are working with an established platform.
Just noticed, please do not contact Davy Wentzler via the email address at the bottom of the txt as that was for issue with the original work back in 2010
Surely not. But it certainly should be pointed out, since I've drawn attention to it.

Hi All So this is the link to the motherboard I am supporting. I have a few in stock but only for complete systems but you can order on this link. They are FULLY supported and even the network as I paid Neil to write the NIC driver. Any way, it is a great basis for a fast AROS machine. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000352076072.html Keep well. Steve

Re: Recommended hardware
@Jeff1138 added you to 7010 and 5060 list, thanks @d0wz I added Z440 to candidates, but either gfx or network would have to become supported for this to be considered recommended hardware (so that a user would have to replace only 1 element). I think in case of Z400 there is some chance of updating nouveau to get it's cards supported, it will be harder with Z440 as it uses newer cards.
