That's ok if you just want to find an app to do specific tasks. But Cinnamon Writer looked very promising and maybe it could have been the basis for an AROS Office Suite, Cinnamon Office.
We need an office suite, a text editor with real syntax highlighting and correct indentation. I'm using the AROS text editor that doesn't do that.
Having a new, modern browser is also very much needed for AROS. We have many needs.

3 months agoas a text editor have you tried Annotate, unfortunately the programmer of cinnamon writer abandoned the project, today I contacted a programmer to tell him if he can bring ignition spreadsheet, maybe we will have the driver for barspipes sequencer midi and I am inquiring about a printing system

3 months agothere are no special requirements apart from fixes to the muimaster.library which I remember caused problems for the correct functioning of the software, what distribution are you using I tiny Aros 3.1b

3 months agothen I am not aware of how Alexander compiled the software and on which build he tested everything I think the reference is one of the latest with changes to the c library
I tried on:
ABIv0 20220318-1
Aros One 2.3
In both cases nothing happens when I click on the program icon.

Today I checked WCS on real hardware and it runs. So the only problem is that it doesn't run under a virtual machine (VirtualBox 7.0.4).

3 months agoCheck that the icon is of type "Tools", on Aros unfortunately you cannot change the icon type, delete the icon and recreate it from Dopu4
Or, if the file "WCS.Prefs" exists, delete it !
Can you check if you can run WCS in VESA mode or only in native mode?

Yes, after deleting the prefs it works, thanks AMIGASYSTEM!
Maybe you should delete this prefs file from the distributed archive? This would reduce the problem on different configurations, and the program will create this file for itself anyway on first startup.

2 months agoi asked Alexander the author of the wcs porting if he could work on guteprint and give us a printing system on aros he replied that he is still working on wcs again to improve it, maybe in the future we can hope for more portings, he is very kind and skilled in programming
