Thanks deadwood, with this update I am starting to build the new version of AROS One v2.8, in the meantime I am working on AROS One 68k with the addition of 68k software taken from Aminet to make it productive.

At the moment I'm working on it very little due to an eye problem that doesn't allow me to spend much time near the monitor, I'm hoping for a speedy recovery so that I can devote more time to it.

Speaking of AROS 68k, I have noticed an old problem that is still unresolved, i.e. the pointer is displayed but cannot be used, any saving does not work, the Red pointer with poor graphics always remains.

A small update on the releases from me: There is too much happening in parallel and to get some grasp on things I dediced to split the release. First, 32-bit version will be published and then a couple of weeks later 64-bit version will be released.

With this, here is update 32-bit contrib. Since the number of changes is low I already marking this as a "release candidate". If nothing major is found this archive will be the final release:

https://axrt.org/development/tmp/AROS-20250313-RC1-any-i386-contrib.tar.bz2

Below is a change log. Apart from listed elements, make sure to integrate the complete Development directory (it containers headers generated with new templates and changed GCC)

Also please consider the 20250313 ISO I posted two days ago as "almost final". Please report any regressions compared to 20220318-1 with 20220318-1-U2 applied. Please *don't* report any issues present on both builds - they won't be addressed at this point. Also if you re-test 20250313 ISO on your hardware, please post it here with indication which hardware it is.

Contrib ABIv0 20250313-1 changes:

 Functionalities:
 Ported TinySID (Kalamatee)
 Ported AmigaHunkParser (Mazze)
 Ported c-ray (Kalamatee)
 Ported libpsl (deadwood)
Enable SSE in pixman and ffmpeg (deadwood)

 Updates:
 libmad 0.15.1b (Kalamatee)
 AMP2 (Kalamatee)
 ffmpeg 4.4.5 (deadwood)
 GCC (wide character support) (Deremon)

 Functional fixes:
 guigfx.library (deadwood)
 TheBar.mcc (deadwood)

 Stability fixes:

I reviewed this thread and my notes and I wrote down three possible regressions on 32-bits:

- does not boot on Acer Aspire 5290
- does not boot on Samsung R370
- Dismount SMB2 does not work

@AMIGASYSTEM - can you confirm those problems are solved/not solved?

deadwood I could not find ffmpeg 4 on the archive

@Amiwell79

ffmpeg is available as set of libraries for developers in Development/lib not as a program you can run.

- Acer Aspire 5290 nothing has changed, it only works if I add 'noacpi' to the Grub

- Samsung R370 only works if I add 'noacpi' to the Grub (Error -6 on Block 0)

- Dismount SMB2 does not work "Error Object in Use"

If I remember correctly Acer has an NVIDIA card. If you add 'noacpi' can you boot in both native driver and VESA modes?

No unfortunately it is not supported, it is an NVIDEA GrForce 8600M G5, it would be nice if it was supported!

I checked hardware list in the driver and your card is already there. This unfortunatelly means it's either a bug or missing functionality in driver. We'll have to get back to this topic when I will be refreshing nvidia driver.

@AMIGASYSTEM - To unmount a Share on AROS One I use 2 commands, both of which must be executed otherwise it will not unmount completely:

Assign Dismount SMB2:
UnMount SMB2:

UnMount does not exist on AROS but I have compiled it, if you want I can attach it to you

See attached video to see how to Mount, Dismont and Restart SMB2

Could you record me a video showing how this fails on current build?

Also, on working build what happens when instead of UnMount you just do Assign Dismount twice?

@AMIGASYSTEM

Can you also check if taking Assign command from working build (should be version 50.12) and using it on "non-working" build makes the unmounting work?

@AMIGASYSTEM

I noticed there is 53.8 release of smb2 for amiga-68k which suggests it has auto-reconnect functionality, which would solve the original problem. Have you tested it?

I compiled 54.8 for 32-bit

https://axrt.org/development/tmp/smb2-handler.i386.zip

Please check if it works and solves the re-connection issue. Note: there seem to be some new arguments needed for re-connect fix, they are in the new readme in repository.

Sorry for the delay but I did some thorough testing on AROS x86, AROS 68k and OS3 !

smb2-handler v54.8 that you compiled for x86 does not work and freezes Wanderer !

The OS3 68k version also works fine on AROS 68k, only when more than 15 minutes have passed the first time you click on the Share icon an error message appears, see screenshot, then if you click a second time on the Share icon everything works fine and the share is available !

Have you tried adding RECONNECTREQ parameter according to the documentation?

So to be clear, version v54.8 for amiga 68k actually solves the original problem, correct? It automatically re-connected when more thatn 15 minutes of inactivity (putting aside the error that happens first time you try to use it again), correct?

For x86 - are you using filesysbox.library 54.4 or newer?
AMIGASYSTEMAMIGASYSTEMDistro Maintainer
Posted 1 month ago
Yes, for x86 I am using filesysbox.library 54.4

With the RECONNECTREQ parameter after the first request shown in the first screenshot, after clicking OK, a second request appears with the tabs "reconnect" or "Abort" (see screenshot), same thing happens on OS3.

Basically the same thing my scripts did on AROS One with the previous version smb2-handler.
