Hi

I am having problems with AROS One v2.8, apart from Samba not connecting, the shut down option does not shut down the computer or stop the computer, it goes back to desktop..I have to press the power button to switch off the EeePC 10000

I appreciate there is no power management on AROS , but, I have no problems in v2.4...

As you can see from the attached screenshot, SMB2 works perfectly on AROS One v2.8. If the network works on AROS One 2.8, try using the AROS One 2.4 mountlist on AROS One 2.8.

Regarding the Shutdown and Reboot commands, it seems that in the new AROS Core there has been a regression compared to the Core of version 2.4 (for the test I used a Live Pendrive, I don't know if anything changes if AROS One 2.8 is installed on HD).

However, this only happens on Native AROS on PC, on VM Shutdown and Reboot work fine.

In any case, you could remedy this by using the PC's power switch to shut down; AROS will not be damaged if I shut it down abruptly.

If development of the 32-bit version continues, I will report this issue!

The update of AROS One 32Bit continues, even though there is no news regarding new cores. Among the various software updates in the upcoming version 2.9, you will find ‘eGame’. seee screenshot !

eGame allows you to keep an easily searchable list of games for playing - rather
than having to hunt through lots of folders. It is even possible to add ROMs,
disk images & 'foreign' executables, and have them automatically loaded by the
appropriate emulator (e.g. DOSBox)

Hi,

I have loaded Aros One v2.9 onto a HP T620, changed the network card to a Atheros 5000 comptible and the WIFI connects to thd Internet okay and Samba is working connecting to my Linux Rad server.

The T620 is in VESA mode 1920x1024 on a 23" monitor.

The sound is comming from the internal speaker. I will try fitting stereo speakers to the audio out.

The whole system works very nicely and looks great.

A strange video posted by a user shows Amiga booting directly. His comment, at least from the translation, is unclear.

First, he talks about a Linux system where AROS One 2.7 (32-bit) is installed, which in turn boots directly from the Amiga OS 3.2 PC.

Continuing in the comment, he then says that Amiga 1200 or A400 boots directly from Windows 10, again via AROS One 2.7.

The PC used is enclosed and framed in a wooden case with transparent glass walls.

You can find the original comment in the attached video.

I cannot see much of AROS One in the video, most 3.2 (68k)

You can see Win 10 booting and later Linux. From description it seems 2 harddrives included, one with Win 10, the other with Linux. The Linux system directly booting in 3.2, perhaps first starting Aros One and then directly in UAE, what not makes much sense of course. You could also directly boot in UAE skipping Aros One

I believe AROS One is hosted, which in turn launches JanusUAE, allowing Amiga to start directly! Of course, he could have installed only AROS One, which starts directly from JanusUAE, but probably the hardware was not fully supported.

Certainly, he would have had a better Amiga experience if he had used AROS One 64-bit and Amiberry.

It's more simpler AMIGASYSTEM. The description says it all:
2 drives, 1x160gb and 1x500gb.

The second drive (500GB) boots windows and does not matter much in the presentation (author probably wanted to prevent windows from overwriting his boot (something that windows is notorious for doing and it will still try to wreck his (linux) boot-block unless the drive is completely turned off in bios).

The first drive is more interesting but there the description (and his video-cuts) are misleading. It boots into debian linux (and certainly has debian installed, even if its only a small subset to let everything work). Debian boots, will start the amiga emulator that automatically starts the amiga workbench that was setup for the emulator (no magic there).

The part that is clearly missing is how AROS was ran but for both Linux and windows there are several options. For windows it would just either run hosted or in a VM and for linux the same applies with the exception that Linux would enable you to boot directly into AROS (but as far as I was able to decipher from the images) though the grub menu did not offer such option so I would guess AROS is also running hosted if it ran on linux.

The new version of ‘ACM’ (Audio Convert Manage) and two new programmes, “Ticklish” (a to-do list tool) and ‘Baphomet’ (a screensaver), are now available for AROS One 32-bit.

The three applications mentioned also work well on AROS One 64-bit via 32-bit emulation (EmuV0).
