I've released a first public preview of CPython 3.14.7 for AROS x86_64 ABIv11.

It supports HTTPS with certificate verification, file and JSON processing, zlib/gzip/bz2/lzma compression, threads, and installing pure-Python wheels with pip. It includes source code, reproducible build instructions, and tests.

This release targets ABIv11 2026.09, not mainline AROS (mainline is coming). It has been tested in QEMU, including installation and repeated runs after reboot. Reports from other setups and real hardware would be welcome.

The main limitations are that Ctrl-C cannot yet interrupt scripts, sockets work only in the main thread, and subprocesses and dynamically loaded native extensions are not supported.

GREAT work! Could you please check if the tests for the core CPython are passing? Because you're very close to reach the goal for the old bounty that I've written many years ago: https://power2peo...ts/python/
Besides the tests, an x86/i386 port is needed for officially claiming the bounty, but I don't expect surprises here.

@aros-sg and all bounty donors: the bounty was about CPython 2.7, which is obsolete and completely irrelevant nowadays. IMO it should be re-purposed for porting a recent CPython 3.x version. Could you please provide feedback on that?

In the mean time i386 is also supported and I checked option for other platforms - will come, might be also possible to some extent on m68k
