Hackaday has regular challenges, entries for which get featured on their site. The most recent is a retocomputing challenge, which is not just about resurrecting old hardware but also has a 'Moden Retro' category. So if anyone has an AROS project planned this could give great exposure. P.S. I'm hoping to turn my ACER Aspire laptop (the one that's just got working USB) into a large format AROS touchscreen tablet. The keyboard has an electrical fault so nothing lost in bolting the screen directly onto the base to give a better form-factor for writing on, and certainly more space to expand into than the screen on my Samsung netbook. I'll need it too as this year I'll be teaching Physics in a room with a projector but without a normal whiteboard, let alone a smartboard. Anyway, if I can get this going I'll dcoument it for the Challenge.

I just had a brief read. I assume this challange and the site in general is more about hardware, not software? So just running a retro-oriented distribution as AROS.games on a PC would not fit it, but if you put that PC into a A1200 "shell" then this could be included?

There are certainly is a lot stories about new hardware in old cases, but they do cover software developments and I think one could argue the inversion - new hardware running an OS that feels just like AmigaOS, which a lot of writer on Hackaday still have a soft spot for. That's got to be a good fit for the 'Retro Modern' category. To really get the attention though there needs to be some unique aspect to the project to give it a 'hook'.

I've been keeping an eye on the site as I put in a 'tip' last week about all the recent AROS developments, but it looks like I was beaten to the punch for noting the RPi version. Hopefully they will also report on the graphics and USB 3 developments I mentioned in my tip at some point too.

I think when the AROS ports on RPi are complete and at least a basic set of important applications, including browser, can be installed then we should promote it in the ARM/RPi-Community that certainly exists. There is in my view a good chance to create interest there.

Absolutely agree. Might be an idea to start a thread on https://forums.ra...rrypi.com/ on this; unfortunately this is not possible from OWB as the PITA that is Cloudfare blocks it.
