Passthrough hardware/discs in hosted environment? (re: Amiga Forever)

Haldo! Long time listener, first time caller, amateur Amiga user.

Managed to get Icaros set up in a hosted Debian bookworm VM, and right now I'm trying to figure out how to access the virtual CD drive from inside Icaros, for the sake of Amiga Forever integration. Probably something I'm missing, either an undocumented command, or just a feature that isn't available. (....yet?)

Either way, I could use the help. Thanks in advance!

To mount an ISO on AROS you have to use "DiskImageGUI", this program also exists on Amiga, on AROS it works the same way ! on Icaros I don't know where DiskImageGUI is located.

@AMIGASYSTEM

Oh whoops, I think i might have misspoken! Pfft

I'm not talking about using disk images -- I'm talking about actual CD drives, and getting AROS to recognize them while hosted on Linux. The ISO stuff is not what I'm looking for, and if it came across like any VM or ISO stuff was relevant, it wasn't and I do apologize for that.

Hope this clears any confusion!

There is a driver called hostdisk.device that allows such passthrough. Here is it's documentation:

If I'm not mistaken, the link mentions Hardisk mounting, not CD/DVD (physical) mounting.

I tried creating this Mountlist and it doesn't seem to work (maybe on Native Linux it works and on VMware it doesn't)

FileSystem = cdrom-handler
Device = hostdisk.device
Unit = /dev/sr0
BlockSize = 2048
Surfaces = 1
BlocksPerTrack = 0
LowCyl = 0
HighCyl = 0
Reserved = 0
Activate = 1

....y'know what I think I'll just copy my Amiga Forever ISO and use DiskImageGUI. That honestly sounds far more convenient than the alternatives.

Sorry for wasting everyone's time. I'd just rather spend 10 minutes doing a couple steps than an hour doing something I would've assumed to have already been done.

I mean no ill will -- I just want to take the path of least resistance with my computers..

Yup, that's a simple solution that makes sense
