Hi All,

New build:

https://axrt.org/development/owb/i386/OWB_2.0-20241016.zip

Changes:
- enabled MMX/SSE acceleration for video and audio decoding

I also discovered that on native (at least on VBox) there is high CPU load for about a minute after initial video page displays slowing down the playback during that first minute. I'll invastigate this furter.

@deadwood - On your videos, you were moving hang Odyssey windows. So moving windows works but right-click to select menu from Wanderer does not?

You can move hang odyssey window after 1st attempt to reboot shortcut keys both ctrl and del than you can move the hanged owb window and yes correct you can not use any wanderer menus, I normally get shell/cli window by alt or cntrl and key w on my keyboard and that fails too to bring shell up.

So 1st owb hangs and you can not move the owb window.

Than if I hit shortcut keyboard keys to reboot than you can move the window but you can not use any menus at all.

Ok thanks for running these tests and explanation of what is going on. I need to think through if there is some way to remote-debug this problem.

While the current interest is mainly with 32-bit version of Odyssey, here is a short article describing what to expect from 64-bit version of Odyssey:

https://arosnews.github.io/64bit-odyssey-and-javascript-story/

For those who want to use AROS as a "daily driver", migration 64-bit system will be a significant and welcomed upgrade. Like

I've just been trying a few YouTube videos on my Atom machne - it's actually really smooth, just the occasonal skip (this is spoofing as iPhone). It is really great!

Thanks again,
Nigel.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the browser!

Is your Atom machine the same type as @serk118uk?

@Amiwell79

The only thing I can suggest is to install clean release on USB pendrive, updated it to U1 state then update it with updates from this thread, clean your disk caches and they try running OWB. Alternativelly try that in VMWare/VirtualBox first. I tested Odyssey under these conditions in VirtualBox and it worked.

New build:

https://axrt.org/development/owb/i386/OWB_2.0-20241019.zip

Fixes (20241019)
- fixed detection of available RAM under 32-bit native AROS
- speed up opening Odyssey with large amount of files in disk cache
- increase default size of disk cache from 50MB to 75MB

The first fix is quite important. Since Odyssey was thinking there is 0 RAM left in system it was not starting in-memory caches. Now that this is fixed, the caches will be enabled which means it should be a bit faster to navigate web pages at expense of more RAM usage.

Sorry, no - it's my Samsung n130. However, at some point over the weekend I'll try it on my Aaua eeePC to see what happens.

Cheers,
Nigel.

deadwood this new "20241006" is faster on WMware especially if you use iPhone spoofing.

The only problem is that you can't see the whole video, each time it stops at different points and you have to wait a long time for the video to continue, sometimes it jumps to the next video.

It's probably less fast on virtual machines, but consider that my PC where I installed WMware is a Dual Core with Win7 64 Bit and 4GB of RAM, but it has a good video card and a good sound card!

@AMIGASYSTEM

Yes, some of the videos will sometimes stop. It's a workaround for a crash. Hopefully this will be fixed in future with newer engine. For now what I found working in case it stopped was: pause, seek a little, unpause.

I use that technique too!

On the online whatsapp site, Only accessed by iPhone spoofing, the QR code for logging in does not appear, should it work?

No, I don't think current engine will support that.

Did you also do a clean installation of Odyssey or did you copy your settigs from other computer? Try deleting ENVARC:Zune/OWB.1.prefs and ENVARC:Zune/OWB.config as well as the same files from ENV:
