Ok, then take the ISO from first post and:

1) Remove DEVS:Monitors: IntelGMA, IntelGMA.info, VMWare, VMWare.info
2) Boot with 'noacpi' but without 'nomonitors'

And tell me what happens.

I’d already followed your instructions, but nothing has changed: after Grub, the text appears and then the screen goes black

Well in that case not much can be done. I have one laptop with GeForce card but it is of newer generation. Maybe making the driver work on that laptop will also fix the issue for you. We need to wait and see.

I’m having the same issue with the HP ENVY 15-k112nl, which has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M
This PC will only boot from a USB 2.0 flash drive; the USB 3.0 flash drive doesn’t appear in the boot menu (I’ve tried more than one)

Hi,

Can I ask if nouveau supports/or finds Nvidia graphics if a laptop has combined Intel HD gfx or just nvidia only like the desktop?
Optimus support via linux bubblebee type but already integrated into nouveau. As it was always an issue in the past?

In that case it'd make most sense to wait until I get the driver working on my laptop and then see if it improves your cases.

@Jeff1138

I don't know how it will work yet. Right now I'm focusing on desktops only. One thing I know is that there was some "prime" code I had to remove because it was GPL. I assume "prime" might have something to do with "Optimus"
