Unfortunately, it's a known issue that atheros5000 doesn't work on 64-bit. As you've seen, it gives the illusion that it might work, but something unknown is wrong that causes it to drop a lot of packets. I spent a bit of time trying to fix it, but I had to set it aside for the moment as it's not the same type of problem that the other drivers had.
realtek8180 has always had strange behaviour, even on 32-bit. It works in some environments and not in others. On my last test it seemed to work quite well on 64-bit, but that could definitely be specific to my network. Does it work for you on 32-bit?
Hi Neil, good to hear from you. Yes, I agree realtek8180 can be fussy; it does work on this machine under 32 bit though. However, it does require me to (a) set all ip addresses manually (tried for 64 bit as well as DHCP) and (b) run sequentially startnet, stopnet, startnet and then wirelessmanager. Oddly doing the start/stop/start makes connection to our router via realtek8180 much more reliable. I tried that with 64 bit but got a crash on running stopnet; when I get back home I'll try again and post up the crash log.
Cheers,
Nigel.
Edit: Stopnet error log attached.

@deadwood - Hmm, have you tested how 20250418-1 release behaves?
Also if you select second option (VESA) and add debug=serial to grub command line, you should get some debug output on screen - if you record it with camera, you might catch the crash on one of the frames.
I've done the above; just two lines are output before the reset, one saying "AROS - The AROS research OS" and the other "64-bit build. Compiled Aug 26 2025". I know the CD is good as it boots my HP Elitebook without any problems.
Cheers,
Nigel.
P.S. I've tried 'noacpi','nodma', 'nosata2pata', 'nopci, nolegacy' and setting SATA mode to IDE in bios but no change.

Ok, then it unfortunatelly dies too early. Can you put a link to the exact model of motherboard you are using?
History:
- integrated ~160 changes from Kalamatee from June-July period
Areas to test:
- stdlib.librar/m.library/crt.library - a lot of internal changes which should not be visible externally, if possible check if software from Archives still work correctly as it did with 20250418-1
- updates: codesets.library, z1.library (check is SSE/AVX is not broken if you have older CPU)
- fixes: rhine.device
Note: Official update containing these changes in planned for September.

New nightly is booting (both from CD and memory stick) and working well on my HP EliteBook; I've quickly tried a range of programs in contrib and no issues to report .
Cheers,
Nigel.
P.S. the motherboard not booting 64bit is an ASUS B85M-E (https://www.asus.com/supportonly/b85m-e/helpdesk_cpu/. It's CPU is a 3.5 GHz i7. I haven't tried the new nightly yet but I'm guessing the changes mde would be relevent here.

Can you check if those programs not crashing with 20250418-1? Can you also check if the are not crashing with the previous nightly build posted in this thread (August 26th I believe)
@Amiwell79 - I tested some applications and encountered some problems with those written in Pascal. When closing them, I get a request privilege violation error.
Increase the stack, 8192 should be enough, otherwise increase the stack and the Guru will disappear.
Do you have the hdaudio values that you used for the hp 14-bw?
Did the ethernet not work? How did the usb work, is it chargeable?
Just interested
Audio is not recognised at all - AHI prefs reports 'void'. I've tried with and without 'query' in the config file.
Just the USB port on the right works, but you can connect a hub to it and devices can be removed and successfully reconnected.
Ethernet works (realtek 8189 diver)
Graphics are vesa but up to 1600x900 resolution
I haven't tried sata as the there is no hard-drive bay, you'd need to strip the back off the machne to get to the hard drive.
Assuming sata works this would be a decent machine if it wasn't for the lack of audio. It was bought for my daughter's homework. To my eternal shame she (anf her sister) insist on using Windows; I feel I've failed in my duty as a parent It wasn't much over a year until the Windows install slowed to a crawl (with no re-install disk of course). The replacement machine (she insisted it must be hardware, couldn't possibly be Windows' fault) has done exactly the same thing...
Found a Guru on LunaPaint with build 2025090, with build 20250418 no Guru.
The Guru appears if you try to save an image. I am attaching two videos showing the Guru with the new build 2025090, and in the second video, the correct operation with 20250418.
I ran LunaPaint with the ‘Wanderer’ screen because I get graphic artefacts with the proprietary screen. In any case (this does not happen with AROS 32Bit.), the Guru with build 2025090 also appears with the proprietary screen.
In addition, there are strange font characters on the LunaPaint window bar, This also happened with previous builds.
EDIT:
Same problem, GURU when saving files even with the apps: ZuneBrot, ZunePaint, and ZuneView.
