SDL2 software ports

I think the joystick support needs to be fixed in SDL2 itself.

I have a new build for testing. Now the games run at full speed of 60fps. You can check if it hasn't gotten worse on weaker computers (and if the sound is still okay).

Okay, in any case, it was quite fast on VMware card (Normal), and the audio was good too, no glitches. To make the game compatible with the keyboard, I deleted the ‘fbneo.ini’ file, and the automatically recreated version made the PC keyboard compatible.

This new version has poorer audio quality, less clear music and a few glitches, so the first version you sent me is much better.

If you want to run it easily on Wanderer from the “FinalBurnNeo” icon, I am attaching my little script. The binary must have the original name “fbneo”.

What kind of glitches? Something other than sound?
Can you record a video?

The first version works better on weaker machines because it is limited to 20fps.
The second version has no limit and tries to draw the image at full game speed (usually 60fps), but if the computer is too weak, it becomes desynchronized with the sound.
In the final version, I think I'll make an option/switch for weaker machines.

Thanks for testing!

@retrofaza - My conclusions from testing SDL2 so far:

- The flags SDL_WINDOW_FULLSCREEN and SDL_WINDOW_FULLSCREEN_DESKTOP do not work.
- Attempting SDL_INIT_JOYSTICK results in an error (Invalid RWops).
- The SDL_GetPerformanceCounter() function does not work.

The lack of fullscreen is particularly annoying. If anyone is able to fix this, we would make significant progress.

I saw that is worse than not working, I recompiled gemrb with SDL2 (I’ll post a video when I came back home) and while it works “okay” in a resizable window(which could be handy) setting fullscreen (while running or at startup) will crash SDL2 badly Sad

Yes, I'm experiencing crashes too. In the ports so far, I've simply disabled FS support, just like the joystick. I guess we'll have to wait until Kalamatee finishes what he's working on now and gets back to SDL2 Smile

The video recording on my PC isn't perfect, but there's a big difference in audio quality between the two versions.
With the first version of the binary, the audio is perfect, smooth and clean, while with the second binary, the music is fragmented with ‘hiccups’ and the tone is poor.

I also tested it on my old Dual-Core laptops in VESA mode, even with the first Binario, and the audio quality is not optimal, but it depends on the type of game and the size of the window used.

Another version FBNeo. This time, one binary, but two icons, so everyone can run the version that works better for them Smile I think that's a good enough solution for now.

I'm planning the next version after updating SDL2.

In the meantime, maybe I'll make a nicer game selection menu especially for the AROS version.

An iGame-style menu for Amiga or WHD_MENU used on AROS
A 32-bit version would also be welcome, as it is still in use at the moment!

This game is a puzzle game where you have to break up groups of gems of the same color before they reach the end of the board.

Technical stuff: I removed sdl2_mixer and used simple audio so that the game doesn't require OpenGL. It's probably another bug in our SDL2 that using sdl2_mixer forces accelerated mode.

The game is already in the archives:

Okay, the simple list is already working.
As soon as I have a little more time, I will expand it with additional options (filtering, images, etc.).

I have working filters. It took me a long time and required a lot of debugging (I have no experience in writing complex MUI applications). But as you can see, it works stably with a large number of files.

TODO:
- change the layout of elements in the window
- progress bar in MUI when scanning ROMs
- information about the highlighted game (text info, title image, preview image)
- maybe additional search by game name (or part of the name)?

If you have any ideas, suggestions, or inspiration, please let me know.

I am posting another video showing the progress of work on the MUI/Zune GUI for FBNeo. Most of the functionality is already complete.

A small change, but quite difficult to implement... now images in the GUI are scaled.

Great job, with the Zune Skins it will look even better!

Thanks, so I still have the following on my TODO list:
- an additional window with settings for ROM paths, etc.
- enabling customization of ZUNE skins
