Ad hoc network?

I was wondering if anyone here has had any success with setting up an an hoc network between two AROS machines? I've set up two machines with an ad hoc entry in wireless networks with the same SSID and and set both to a fixed ip address but I'm having no luck in pinging between them.Both machines work fine on wifi through DHCP.

Could anyone please suggest what I'm missing?
