Hello,
I would like to install Samba on AROS (specifically ArosOne 64-bit), but I’m not sure where to start. There are two archives available on Aros-Archive. I tried installing the GUI, but it throws errors related to "datatype." Is there perhaps a guide available on how to install Samba?
Best regards,
You mean as a client to talk to network shares on Windows? I think this is already working somehow by default in AROS One. Samba is Carlo's preferred way of exchanging data so look into the distribution itself.

On AROS One, you can use SMB2, which works very well; AROS One has everything you need.
Once there is compatibility with ABIv1, you'll be able to use the correct version of SMB by configuring it directly in Network Preferences.
I am trying to set up Samba on AROS, but I am encountering errors. I am not sure what the cause is, so I have attached the configuration file from Fedora, as well as the one from AROS.

Move the DOSDrivers SMB2 + Icon to Storage/DOSDrivers
Mounting too quickly can cause an error; SMB2 must be mounted after the network is active.
In my Fedora home directory, there is an 'Aros' directory that acts as a central hub for everything I download, upload, etc., and I have shared it via Samba.

2 hours agoI'm not a Linux expert, but it works fine for me on HostedLinux running on VMware; the only issue was that it required a static IP address instead of the PC name. Did you move it to Storage/DOSDrivers?
