Sure, thanks! I’ve been using Aros exclusively for years, and it’s really something special and rewarding.Like

I've hit peaks of 20 Mb in download, the stability seems great, I don't have any problems on my system

Just added the new tcp stack to mu i5 lapop. On fast.com I'm getting 16 Mbps vs 15 Mbps with the old stack, but this is over wifi.

Cheers,
Nigel.

I wanted to ask if it's possible to get an update of arostcp if I'm not asking too much for abiv0 i386. I know the transition to 64-bit is underway, but I have some netbooks that still work well, and it would be nice to have this update. I'm only asking for this.

Well, I didn't really plan to make updates to ABIv0. I assume you are asking to port the "speed up" patch to ABIv0?

@Amiwell79

I applied the "speed up" patches on ABIv0 AROSTCP. Completly untested. If it works, great. If not, we'll have to live with the current AROSTCP.

I think there's a small increase in download speed, I didn't really notice it, thanks anyway

These days I'm downloading at 2.5 Mbps, it never happened to me with the old stack

Is that Megabits or Megabytes? Is it better or worse than before?

2 mb per second, better than before, I tried downloading from archives

I tried with the old stack, it downloads at 340 kb per second, so there’s an improvement

I did a Wi-Fi speed test with fast.com and then uploaded a pretty big file to Archives, and it didn’t take long

I've done some tests to compare the download speed of the new AROSTCP version.

This is my test environment:
  • 32-bit ABIv0
  • FTP downloads to RAM disk over the Internet using MarranoFTP
  • 41 MBit download link
  • Speeds shown are in kiloBYTES per second

www.arosworld.org/infusions/forum/attachments/tcp_speeds.png

For comparison, the speed I get for running the same test on Linux (I mean just using the Linux command-line FTP client, not hosted AROS) is around 4,400.

@ncafferkey

So you are saying that the ABIv0 build I released in this thread actually speed up the transfers, correct?

Yes, like I was telling you, I noticed an increase in both download and upload speed

Yes, thanks Smile

Also, the figure I get from doing an equivalent test on a wired connection on OS4 is just 820 kB/s (vs 6200 on a LAN transfer), so Roadshow doesn't appear to have this kind of optimisation.
