It's a frustrating experience that no one should go through and honestly a deterrant to new users.

Similar experience - but after 2 days I think I have perfected it for my network. (The settings do not seem to save however).

1. Go to "Wireless" panel first and put in my Network name, "WPA" and password
2. "Edit" the net0 interface
2a. change the driver to bwfm.device
2.b set IPV4 to "DHCP"
2.c set IPV6 to "DHCP"
2.d set net0 to "DHCP"
2e. set Primary DNS to 10.0.0.1 and Secondary DNS to 10.0.0.1 (for my network)
3. Press "Save"

This seems to start AROSTCP, the Wireless Manager and the DHCP client.

In a console/terminal type "status" to see if it is running. The following should be running.

- AROSTCP
- WirelessManager
- AROSTCP DHCP Client

But even after all of this, the Wireless manager may not be authenticating with the access point. I've found starting a second WirelessManager so I can see "stdout" in a terminal gives me a log of what the wireless manager is going (it is wpa_supplicant under there)

I've updated my entry, if you'd like to add yours, please do so:
I managed to establish a DHCP connection. I configured IPV4 for DHCP and IPV6 for DHCP, and the connection worked. Unfortunately, the settings aren't saving correctly, and I have to reconfigure the connection after a reboot. Sometimes everything disappears from the network settings—sometimes just the access point settings, sometimes just the network card settings. This happens regardless of whether I check the "Start network on boot" checkbox or uncheck it.

In summary: When a connection is successfully established (both DHCP and manual), it works until the machine is restarted. The problem is related to incorrect network settings being saved.

To avoid just talking about problems, I'll write about what made me happy today. Recently, I had a major problem with my Pi-Top. After starting the computer, it wouldn't respond to the touchpad. Out of 10 starts, one was fine. Today's Nightly update solved the problem; out of 10 starts, I've had 10 successful starts. The Pi-Top's touchpad seems to be working properly.

I do have a problem with flash drives, though. None of them work.

For AROS Pi is there a guide for setting up a cross compiler for AROS on Raspberry Pi? I'd like to compile some software for my Pi.

In my experience, it’s a good idea to use AI assistance when setting up a cross-compilation environment. I had been getting really frustrated because the whole process feels a bit like trial and error, and I basically needed help at every other step. Having a helpful assistant ready in my browser made the process manageable, and I now have two toolchains—one for RPi and one for x86_64. If you also decide to install opencode, compiling for your chosen platform becomes straightforward as well.

The compiler is for Ubuntu 24.04

I will probably need to delete my sources for x86-64 ABIv11 and try again also. I messed it up. I'll install Raspberry Pi Build at the same time.

I agree with you 100% It does feel like trial and error, mostly error for me when string up a build system. I try to make good notes but I always miss something that seems crucial.

I'm more accustomed to SVN not Git. Git commands seem like Linux commands, difficult for me. AI is very helpful when doing programming research but I haven't used it as an AI Assistant. Any help is welcome! Where's the user guide "Git for Dummies"? I need that one!

Programming and compiling for Amiga seems so much easier. The Build Tools don't change and the hardware set is limited. Hopefully, programming for Raspberry Pi will be the same, limited hardware.

I'd like to compile my icon tools and other graphics programs for Raspberry Pi. And I have many new Window Themes to try and I can make many more, dare I say without starting a riot!? LOL

My Amiga 1200 uses Pi 3B so I made the switch to Raspberry Pi a while ago! Maybe instead of AfA OS we could have AROS Pi for Amiga?

It would be great if you ported your programs to the Raspberry Pi. The issues you're having with setting up the toolchain might stem from rapid changes in the repository or temporary missing components.
You didn't specify exactly what hardware you're using. Please provide as much detail as possible and describe exactly where you got stuck—maybe we can find a way to help.
I faced a really difficult situation myself because I work on a Mac; I had to install Docker to run Linux, which hosts the toolchain and compiler. On top of that, I used QEMU with an AROS image for the RPi—an image I didn't compile myself but downloaded from the Nightly builds.
What is your native OS? Is it x86 Linux or something else?

I realized after I posted my response that my newest development PC with VMWare running Ubuntu and AROS One is running low on disk space so I can only run one cross compiler until I upgrade my m.2 SSD. It's a Dell Inspiron SFF computer. It has 16GB Memory so it can safely share 4GB of memory with the VM.

I'm currently running x86-64 ABIv11 in VMWare but it has a problem so I have to delete my sources & rebuild.

I just purchased a Raspberry Pi 400 and I'd really like to compile some software for it for testing. But I'll have to wait till I get a bigger SSD next week. Untill then I can use the Nightlies. Does AROS Pi have developer tools such as GCC in the shell?

I was reading the instructions that deadwood linked to previously. Since you've setup the compiler I assume, do you use Qemu like AROS Bootstrap to test your compilation? Second, can I use Balena Etcher to burn the SD card.img to a micro SD? I assume 32G is big enough?

It's nice to see Amelinium Browser is compiled for AROS Pi. Does the USB and Wifi work on the current build for Raspberry Pi. Do you setup wifi for Pi with the wifi manager?

I use QEMU for the automated tests performed by Opencode, though I also verify things myself on a Raspberry Pi.
You don't need to use BalenaEtcher, as the Raspberry Pi supports FAT-formatted cards. Simply extract the Nightly archive and copy the files to a microSD card, and the Pi will boot up. I use a 32GB card, but 16GB or even 8GB would suffice.
Wi-Fi works, but I’m currently having trouble with USB (it doesn't detect the flash drive). I use the network preferences but without selecting automatic startup; the utility is buggy, so you have to start the network manually by opening the preferences and clicking "Use," or by adding the network startup commands to the User-startup file.

Hi,

Just a very little change to the Extras DOpus/S, if anyone is interested.

Rename the old DirectoryOpus.CFG first before copying over, just in case there is an issue

Just trying things out so not great but hopefully a good start for future configs.
