That would be preferred. Possibly you could release "limited" version for AROS One users right now and full version for mainline.

Ideally, I'd prefer to build against mainline and know that users will get those, e.g., 3-6 months from now. For the package manager I work on, I will consider building the package from source. (GentooAROS

Python 3.14 on AROS - a small progress report and a question
CPython 3.14.7 build for mainline AROS x86_64, cross-compiled from macOS. I'm still learning how AROS works, but a few useful things are running in the guest:

[*]The interpreter, REPL, and some standard-library functionality
[*]Sockets, DNS, and HTTPS through urllib, with certificate verification
[*]A small API client and a single-threaded HTTP server
[*]Offline installation of a pure-Python wheel with pip, tested with pyfiglet although cleanup still produces warnings

Threaded sockets need more work, subprocess launching is currently disabled, and additional C extensions cannot be loaded dynamically. The interpreter includes the available C modules. Installing pure-Python wheels directly from PyPI is still untested.
Even so, it seems useful for file tools, processing JSON, and talking to web APIs.

One question about dynamic loading
Looking through the sources, I noticed that LoadSeg already loads and relocates ELF ET_REL objects, while dlopen/dlsym appear unimplemented in posixc.
Could that be a starting point for loading AROS-built Python extensions? I assume resolving symbols from the interpreter is only part of the problem, with initialization, dependencies, and relocations to consider too.
I'm probably missing some history or technical details here. Has anyone explored this already? I mean extensions compiled for AROS, of course, not running Linux wheels.
Sorry, but I've no experience on that.

And Python for mainline should be available for testing in the next couple of days. I will need to check updates if it will be possible to launch it on Aros One.

So, who's coming to AROS to make the next Stardew Valley? (it's still far from being usable, but frontend and Skia works)
