I finally found a moment to prepare a flash drive with AROS Portable. The drive is some no-name 128GB USB 3.0 stick.

Success! My desktop computer booted right up.

The Wanderer desktop looks gorgeous – those classic blue window borders with classic window gadgets on the title bars are awesome. The icons are the same: classic Glow Icons – a absolute beauty. This is what every AROS should IMHO look like by default.

Surprisingly, in a little app (with the misleading name 'Settings', I spotted my home Wi-Fi network. So I entered the password and saved it. At the bottom of the window, there was a message saying a reboot was required, so I did just that – rebooted the computer. But AROS didn't boot back up. It hangs on a black screen with a Linux-looking prompt:

Did you reboot the computer using Wanderer's option (Power off|Restart Computer|Restart AROS) or did you press Reset button on the computer itself?

Does your Wi-Fi network has some characters in the name which are not letters or numbers?

Yes, I did. I rebooted machine using Wanderer's option.

Yes, my wi-fi network name contains the minus character '-'. Does it have something to do?

Ok. I rewrited the memory stick from scratch with the Linux dd tool.
Booted my machine again from it.
This time it stucks at the same level without showing the Wanderer's desktop at all and doing there anything.
Got no idea. I'm confused because at the very first time I did it it booted flawlessly.
It looks I have to switch to another pen or change the testing machine.

Try checking the machine's bios to ensure virtualisation support is active. I had something similar; the boot was working initially but when tried again later it stuck at the black scrren with white AROS eye and ever-circling dots. It turned out that the aforementioned virtulaisation setting had been reset to off (I need to replace the bios battery on that machine...); with it enabled the boot worked.

I am pretty sure the CPU virtualisation is on. Checked twice.
I got three PC machines.
1. AMD Athlon 5350 4-core - the one we're talking about.
2. Xeon E1220 - I can't see any virtualisation option in its BIOS. AROS Portable runs the same way as above mentioned.
3. i5-2500 - says the AROS Portable pen isn't a proper boot devoce. In UEFI BIOS I can see an option: Green Power -> SVID Intel Mode. Is this it?

I'd bet it's a problem with the USB stick. Try using a different one. I also recommend burning the image using the latest version of Rufus, that's the most reliable option.
