@AMIGASYSTEM - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M It still doesn't work

I have one laptop with NVidia card, but it's an older Fermi generation card. I will be looking into booting nouveau on it soon.

Beta-3:

https://axrt.org/development/nouveau.hidd-20260707-49.4.zip

Changes:
- enabled HDMI and DisplayPort outputs

Known issues:
- 3D acceleration is not stable, ADoom3 crashes a lot, some other games work correctly
- HDMI will list several 1920x1080 "same" screen modes, some of them might not work, try others
- not tested with mobile chipsets

Tested on: GTX950
retrofaza, sonountaleban, ami-elvis, aha, Argo

Just tried my GTX 970 with hdmi but I'm not getting any output from that port, not even the BIOS screen. Is there some specific action I need to complete to enable the port? (I've intalled the latest firmware from post 97).

Cheers,
Nigel.

Hmm, if you are not even getting motherboard boot messages over HDMI than I'd try with difference card/different cable/different monitor. Looks like a hardware issues to me.

Thought it might be. I did a bit of research online and it looks like you might need to enable the hdmi port via a (Windows of course) configuration program. Anyway, I have an easy solution - I'll get a DVI to hdmi adapter from Amazon (the big-screen TV I'll be using in Derby only has hdmi and VGA inputs).

Cheers,
Nigel.

New version:

https://axrt.org/development/nouveau.hidd-20260709-49.5.zip

Changes:
- fixes to make it boot on Dell Latitude E6430 (see photo)
- tested both 2D and 3D acceleration

Notes:
- if you have NVIDIA Optimus technology in your laptop you must disable it in BIOS, won't work otherwise
- this is the only laptop I have with NVidia card, so no further laptop fixes are expected

Yes, it's in the range of supported chips. Please try it. With 9xx series be sure to install NVidia firmware files - these cards won't work without them.

Latest driver tried with my i7 GTX970 + new kernal - looking good, feels more stable than the previous verion. I tried the GLExcess demo which was very impressive, but on running for the third time I did get an error - please see attached.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Good. I have this error on my plate next. Did you do anything special with GLExcess when you go this error? Like running it longer that previous two times?

@ntromans

Please apply this update: https://axrt.org/development/glexcess-fix.zip

It should fix this specific issue with GLExcess and some other 3D software.

One more fix. Needs to be applied on top of glexcess-fix.

Looking good - I've restarted the GLExcess demo multiple times and not one issue. I also tried teapot again; that was previously giving 16 FPS but now its up to about 380!

I also installed the libraries to my i5 laptop, This is just VESA but there seems to be no ill effects from having these libraries present.

Many thanks,
Nigel.
