Ok, then take the ISO from first post and:

1) Remove DEVS:Monitors: IntelGMA, IntelGMA.info, VMWare, VMWare.info
2) Boot with 'noacpi' but without 'nomonitors'

And tell me what happens.

I’d already followed your instructions, but nothing has changed: after Grub, the text appears and then the screen goes black

Well in that case not much can be done. I have one laptop with GeForce card but it is of newer generation. Maybe making the driver work on that laptop will also fix the issue for you. We need to wait and see.

I’m having the same issue with the HP ENVY 15-k112nl, which has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M
This PC will only boot from a USB 2.0 flash drive; the USB 3.0 flash drive doesn’t appear in the boot menu (I’ve tried more than one)

Hi,

Can I ask if nouveau supports/or finds Nvidia graphics if a laptop has combined Intel HD gfx or just nvidia only like the desktop?
Optimus support via linux bubblebee type but already integrated into nouveau. As it was always an issue in the past?

In that case it'd make most sense to wait until I get the driver working on my laptop and then see if it improves your cases.

@Jeff1138

I don't know how it will work yet. Right now I'm focusing on desktops only. One thing I know is that there was some "prime" code I had to remove because it was GPL. I assume "prime" might have something to do with "Optimus"

Hi,

Thanks, I know it is someway off but was curious. Seems someone is a Transformers fan possibly at Nvidia during the 2010s.

@Korban

Thanks for the tests!

What are you booting? A CDROM or a pendrive?
When does the blinking cursor occur? After you select option in grub?

Blinking cursor generally suggests some early stage issue with booting, not an issue with video card.

I did a fresh install to an ssd (much quicker when testing lots of cards).

The flashing cursor always happens, but only for a few seconds with working cards.
The others mostly just never move beyond that apart from 2 (cant recall which off the top of my head sorry), and they turned the display off around the time the working cards would show Wanderer.
The machine I used was just picked at random from a box (s775/c2d e8500), so I dont know if there's any issues with it running AROS, but given it had no other problems I'm guessing its fine.
I can test on another mobo+cpu if you'd like?
Have more cards to test still anyway Smile

Ok, got it. The driver you are testing has some timing issues - it might be that what you are observing that it works on some cards and not on others. I'm working right now on a more stable stable, should be available soon for testing.

Two more cards have been added to test suite:

GeForce GTX 650
GeForce GTX 950

This now completes the suite - it coveres all card families I was to support in this refreshed driver.
retrofaza, aha, ntromans, Farox, pixie, Argo, Amiwell79, sonountaleban
