Hi All,

I started restoring nvidia driver (nouveau.hidd). This is still the same driver as latest released for 32-bits.

Below is the first build:

https://build.axrt.org/download/builds/Experimental/exp-usb3-pc-x86_64-20260507-063759.tar.gz

Notes:
- changing resolution in Prefs/ScreenMode sometimes hangs system. Be sure to use SAVE and after reboot the new resolution will be used.
- 3D is DISABLED in this build. ONLY 2D functions are active.

Driver has been tested (2D only) with following cards:

- GeForce 8400 GS Rev. 2
- GeForce 9500 GT
- GeForce 8500 GT
- GeForce GT 220

If you have compatible hardware, please test and report if it works - along with you cards chipset.

What do you mean? Do you end up with VESA 1024x768 screen instead of native resolutions in Prefs/ScreenMode?

Ok, got it.

FYI: I set the cut-off level for my work to 8**** family. Everything older then that might still work, but if it doesn't - I won't be spending time to debug and fix. This means that for 64-bit only PCIe cards will be officially supported (7**** is the last family that had AGP variants).

Hi All,

An update from me on the topic of 3D:

In order to support 3D, I need to update the "core" 2D driver. This driver currently is based of ~2010 source codes and needs to be updated ~2020 source codes.

This is good and bad news.

Bad - because the "core" driver completly changed in those 10 years and it's not an update but a complete new port. However I'm positive that today, with AI-assisted coding, the new port will take less time that the one I did in 2010

Good - because this will bring support for much newer cards (up to around end of 2017 so GTX 9xx series!!!), to AROS.

I'll keep you posted on the progress.

FYI: To complete the migration I'm freezing Mesa version to current on (20.x). This stops from having too many moving parts.
