Cooperation with Commodore?

I am, like many, observing the developments around Commodore. The brand was bought recently and they are selling a new C64 now (FPGA). They are also selling a PC looking like a C64

https://www.commo...ore-64x-pc

This model includes windows, linux and the commodore os

it is basically a linux distribution with emulators. For amiga it uses aros roms.

Also I found this in the forum by the commodore os maintainer:

https://forum.com...aros#p3627

"Commodore OS Vision is its own thing now, and that is not necessarily a bad thing.
We'll see if there's anything to be done in future to integrate something more Amiga like.
It would have been fun to reproduce the Amiga window manager though, but even if I did, we all know it would never be deemed close enough.
In the end, I think we'd all rather have AROS's Wanderer or the real Amiga Workbench as the desktop, even if Commodore OS's MATE desktop experience is arguably superior. I think, even if integrated, they would have to co-exist somehow as alternate desktops you can switch between."

that sounds like the direction aros currently goes including the work and plans of Deadwood

my idea why not cooperating here with them. Perhaps we could all benefit?

What do you think?

Commodore OS Vision has nothing in common with AROS, just Linux distribution like many others!

Commodore OS will find user among old Commodore and Amiga fans. While there is not that much synergy with AROS there is a lot of synergy with AxRuntime which needs "carrier" distributions to show full potential.

As a Linux box I'm not interetsed, but as a well configured system with AcRuntine as the front-end, that's a lot more enticing and I hope would be of interest to other Amiga enthusiats.

If they were commited enough they could offer an AROS native machine on new hardware. As wirh previous efforts of this kind (iMica), it would require investment from them in hardware support, which I guess would boil down to finding additional coders to produce the new drivers as simply throwing in money is no good if the core developers already have a million thigs they want to create. Would there be a market for this, given that previous efforts didn't sell as well as their creators would have wished? Maybe, given the current interest in the new Commodore. Would the new Commodore want to put the effort into this venture? Depends how truly commited they are to the CBM legacy...

Cheers,
Nigel.

Yes it is Linux. But it has a high marketing value so if there is interest and Aros gets a prominent role it might bring new users and developers. So I would see it positive.
