Re: Quoting
I'll take a look. I agree with you. I noticed the same but I didn't pursue it because no one mentioned it.

Re: Quoting
Hi, When using quote tag, the quoted text appears with a sidebar and a much bigger font which makes the posts look weird in my opinion. Is it possible to make the font of quoted text same size as the normal text? The sidebar is enough to denote a quote IMHO.

Re: 504 Gateway Timeout error
[quote]Gateway Timeout The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application. Additionally, a 504 Gateway Timeout error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.[/quote] Hello team, I have had a few reports that the above message shows when browsing to this site and ae.arosworld.org. If you do get the same while browsing here, please report here Day and Time and any other details like browser used etc. etc. If you receive the message on ae.arosworld.org, please report on the thread I opened there. This seems to be an issue with the hosting service and it goes away without me doing anything about it. I am trying to track the events so I can submist a support request.

Re: code tag in editor
One thing I noticed is that when I hit preview with [code] tag, then the indentation is preserved and text is not colored. It actually looks acceptable for what I need. Only when the post is submitted the indentation is lost. Also looking at this reference: https://www.php-fusion.org/bbcodes-overview.php There is an alternative "geshi" code which seems to take language as parameter. I tried setting it to "python" (where indentations are super important), but still the spaces where eaten :/ Maybe this "geshi" element is something easier to adjust?

Re: Automatic shortening of links
Thanks for changing the settings. I agree with you - there are cases where this shortening makes total sense, it's just that 40 limit was way too short.

Re: Automatic shortening of links
I found the trimming function and I extended it from 40 characters to 255. While I agree with you 100% that it is annoying but if you look at it from a different point of view, it is an important function. Imagine if the link is 500 characters long (such as some Sharepoint links are) and there is no trimming. It could really mess things up displaying them in a forum post. However, I do agree on this one. 40 characters is too short. Alternatively, you also use the clickable text with a link assigned to it. See here for an example: [url=https://www.bbcode.org/creating-links-with-bbcode.php]Creating links with BBCode[/url]

Re: Automatic shortening of links
Hi, Is it possible to disable the automatic shorting of display text for links? Example of automatic shortened link: [url]https://axrt.org/development/AROS-20201218-D01-pc-i386-boot-iso.zip[/url] And I would just like to see: [b]https://axrt.org/development/AROS-20201218-D01-pc-i386-boot-iso.zip[/b] That obscuring of link address makes no sense to me. You gain "some space" but you loose display of what you are clicking on. If it is not possible to disable this, is it possible to set the threshold of when to shorten to some large number, like 100 characters?

Re: AROS Archives - clean up
I created here a new thread for AROS Archives management - you might have not noticed it. I'll copy your post there. As for where to post, I'll stick to this forum - I don't want to maintain two parallel threads.

Re: AROS Archives - clean up
@deadwood - DiskImageGUI v52.34 (diskimage.i386-aros.tar.bz2) on Aros-archive does not work well, if you run it twice the second time it does not work. Also, DiskImageGUI v52.34 uses different paths for images (Classes\ToolbarImages\Default) DiskImageGUI v52.32 on your Builds works, the required path for images is (Systemes\Images\digfx) - BackupCopy (backupcopy_v1.0.i386-aros.tar.gz) crashes as soon as it runs deadwood, I've noticed that the new Aros-exec is much more visited than arosword, I think it's better to unblock the threads you blocked!

[quote name=amigamia post=2379]@amigamia - I can't say I share the same view of performance from my end. See attached screenshots. [/quote] I guess this is where we see night and day different. Your 150ms vs mine > 1000ms. I would appreciate if other people could make similar tests to see whether the problem is just me or more geographical (like Europe) [quote name=amigamia post=2379]@amigamia Gzip is enabled on the PHP Ini from the hosting service but I don't recall a feature inside PHP-Fusion to use it. I'll look around of that helps you with browsing to this site. [/quote] I'd appreciate making the site operate with gzip. It would help with stalls, as it does with AROS World Exec.

Re: Tracing responsivenes problem
[quote name=AMIGASYSTEM post=2380]@AMIGASYSTEM - Only strange thing is that if you use my "White" configuration, the News icons are bigger and overrun[/quote] It's not just the white theme. That's another thorn on my side about this place. The images have to be vector based or it won't resize them. I can't use PNG or JPG or GIF. If I do, I'll have to resize them manually. .SVG or another vector based are automatically resized. I changed it.

amigamia, for my part arosworld is very fast, no slowdown, I noticed some slowdown only the first days of September, probably due to your maintenance ! Only strange thing is that if you use my "White" configuration, the News icons are bigger and overrun

Re: Tracing responsivenes problem
AROS World Exec "behave" better. There is still initial connection, but the downloading part is essentially gone, see screen shot. It also compresses using gzip (like amigaworld, unlike AROS World). Maybe enabling the compression on AROS World would improve the situation?

Re: Tracing responsivenes problem
[quote name=deadwood post=2375]@deadwood - Hi Here are my observations: Basically any link I enter on AROS World takes above a second to load. This might not seem much, but it is a noticeable "stall". Here is what I discovered so far, see screen shots, first is from AROS World, second from Amigaworld. 1) Almost always there is a section of establishing connection and agreeing on TSL on AROS World while on Amigaworld this happens with lesser frequency. This adds ~400 ms to each request. I checked connection keep alive and AROS World sets it to 2 seconds, while Amigaworld to 5 seconds, so a extension of timeout is a possible solution. 2) Look at download time (green bar) and download size ("Przesłano"). Amigaworld is using gzip compression which makes the size 5 tiles smaller, which definitely helps, but the comparison of download times is also showing problem 300ms for AROS World and 9 ms for Amigaworld. Maybe there is some outbound throttling on your hosting provider? I'd also like to see other people measure these requests to check if this is not some issue on my end. It looks like this 500ms difference is what I perceive as responsive vs stall. ;)[/quote] This site is way underutilized so I never noticed any slowdown enough to make me measure things up with developer mode or fiddler. At the surface level I do not see the problem from my end at least but perhaps it has to do with location of the servers? Perhaps hosting being in the US and you are located outside of continental US? Can you do the same comparison but with [url]https://ae.arosworld.org[/url] ? This should tell you if it is a hosting issue or a CMS problem. AE sits in a separate database/folder structure. Totally unrelated with the exception of the hosting service, domain and SSL cert.
