Distribution: Icaros Desktop 1.5.2Print

Icaros DesktopPaolo Besser released an update for his Aros distribution Icaros Desktop.

Icaros Desktop is a complete distribution and comes on a bootable live DVD/CD-ROM that runs directly on a PC or in a virtual machine such as VMWare or VirtualBox. It can be installed on the hard drive and can coexist with installed OSes such as Windows or in a dedicated partition.

This update includes a newer kernel for an overall better user experience and also updates for wireless manager, Flexcat, Zuneclasses, libgtk-MUI, shell manual. The game pushover was added, Sqrxz3 was updated and the emulator Supermodel was added. A new booteditor was added and many little quirks were solved. Also the audio and network drivers were updated.

But most importantly the Nouveau graphics-driver was updated and should fix screen corruptions on many Nvidia cards

This update can be manually downloaded and installed using the AutoUpdate utility or you can use the AutoUpdate utitility to also do the download for you. It's also possible to download the complete and updated distribution from Paolo's website (in case a fresh installation is needed).

Also the Light version of Icaros Desktop is available for those who find it more convienent to have a smaller distribution (but ofcourse this version lacks some features available on the full distribution).

Please note that this update is not meant for the Icaros 1.5 LKE edition.

For an overview between the different downloads/versions click here.

Download: Icaros Desktop Light 1.5.2 (273 MB)
Download: Updatefile for 1.5.1 to 1.5.2 (92,4 MB for all existing Icaros 1.5.1 installations)

Installed! Thanks Paolone, another fine update Cool

BTW, just notice that mesa demos don' t show with right colors and image is duplicated if using a 16bit screen. Is that supposed to be so?

I am not someone who knows about mesa, but afaik that doesn't sound good to me.

You could wait for someone to confirm but maybe it would be better to ask paolone or one of the developers.

Did it work ok for you before ? Or did it expose the same behaviour ?

Now that I think about it, I seem to remember something similar for some mesa games... I'll search the relevant posts at the other site...
