Documentation: AROS shell manual 0.80Print

Paolo Besser managed to pick up the work on the AROS Shell Manual and uploaded his progress to the archives for us.

The AROS shell manual is the primairy documentation concerning our shell commandline utilities. Paolo continued the work done earlier by Joao Ralha and made it up-to-date with our current AROS distribution(s).

In this update the AROS shell commands are updated and/or corrected and new commands were added. Paolo also added information about the Poseidon shell utilities.

Please keep in mind that this work is still a WIP and may contain errors. More information about Paolo's work can be found on the Icaros blog and in this thread. If you experience any issues with the documentation then don't hesitate to contact and help Paolo with his work.

Print it (i love printed handbooks!)
The books is well written, in a professional way, with a clear index, full of tips, and everyday examples.
It's not merely a list of all dos commands: it starts with an introduction to the shell, its behaviour, key shortcuts. Very well written is the scripting techniques chapter (PBes is very talented with scripting: Icaros is widely based on them!).
Why should you read it? Not only because is the most exaustive source of information on Wanderer-Cli, but because you can grow in your skill, knowledge and approach to our beloved OS!
Really a must!

To start from what you wrote last, indeed it is (currently) the best resource available that's written in such a way.

It reminded me a bit of the old workbench and shell manuals that came with my classic amiga.

It is a real shame to see that during conversion paolone got confronted with formatting issues. Unfortunately they show (in comparison to older revision of the manual).

Hopefully those issues can be resolved and give us an even better manual Smile

In case someone has tips or suggestions then don't hesitate to click on the link of the thread and do so.
