Distribution: Icaros Desktop 1.5.1Print

Icaros DesktopPaolo Besser released an update for his Aros distribution Icaros Desktop.

Icaros Desktop is a complete distribution and comes on a bootable live DVD/CD-ROM that runs directly on a PC or in a virtual machine such as VMWare or VirtualBox. It can be installed on the hard drive and can coexist with installed OSes such as Windows or in a dedicated partition.

This update includes a newer kernel, addition of the ctr-alt-del key combination to perform a cold-reboot (warm reboot can now be done with ctrl-lamiga-ramiga), a new game called Ri-Li, updated development files, an updated Free Pascal, the addition of BackupCopy and the addition of Greek fonts.

This update can be downloaded as an update-file or can be automatically installed with the AutoUpdate utility. It's also possible to download the complete and updated distribution from Paolo's website (in case a fresh installation is needed).

Please note that Paolo provided an extra download called LKE (Legacy Kernel Edition) for those that have difficulty using the new kernel from Icaros on their system. The LKE edition could be usefull in such situations. Also note that this LKE edition needs a manual update to version 1.5.1.

Also the Light version of Icaros Desktop is available for those who find it more convienent to have a smaller distribution (but ofcourse this version lacks some features available on the full distribution).

For an overview between the different downloads/versions click here.

Downloads removed. Please see Distribution: Icaros Desktop 1.5.1 (Patch 01 mandatory) for more information.
